Gene Olsen was an iron worker in the Twin Cities when he started splicing wire rope slings in his garage. He knew firsthand the need that workers had for reliable, strong lifting equipment that could stand up to high demands day-after-day. The work he started in 1950 was a reflection of the needs he saw in his industry every day.

Since opening our doors nearly 70 years ago, the Olsen name has been known for strength, dependability, and service. Our founder, Gene Olsen, was an ironworker from the Twin Cities who started splicing wire rope slings in his garage and sold them to local contractors and construction companies.
