Minnesota State Capitol Chandelier: Keeping a Piece of Minnesota’s History Shining Bright

If you’ve ever been to the Minnesota State Capitol building, you’ve probably noticed the grand chandelier hanging in the rotunda. It sits in a fixed position, suspended at 142 feet in the dome directly above the rotunda floor. This magnificent chandelier was installed in the State Capitol building back in 1905, shortly before the building’s official opening. It contains 40,000 crystal beads that are strung together and is lit by 92 light bulbs. This grand chandelier weighs a total of one ton and is six feet in diameter.
